Web developer CV template
Web developers are one of the few roles where the employer can check your work in a browser before the interview. Your CV's job is to make that easy: a visible portfolio link, a stack that matches the ad, and bullets about real sites with real performance numbers.
Web developer CV — Modern template
Preview it with real web developer content
Modern's clean two-column layout gives your portfolio links and stack a permanent sidebar while your project work keeps the main column. If you're applying through strict ATS portals, Minimal is the single-column fallback.

What sets a web developer CV apart
Unlike most roles, a web developer is auditioned before being interviewed: hiring managers open your portfolio, your GitHub, and sometimes your personal site's dev tools. So the first rule is that every link on your CV must work, load fast, and look intentional on mobile. A slow personal site under a bullet claiming performance expertise ends applications.
The second rule is stack precision. "Front-end development" is not a searchable skill; "React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind" is. Recruiters filter by the exact libraries in the job ad, so name yours the way the ad names them and keep the list honest enough to survive a technical screen.
Portfolio, GitHub and links: where they go
Put your portfolio and GitHub in the header next to your email, not buried in a section at the bottom. If you have one standout project, give it its own entry in a projects section with a one-line description, the stack in parentheses, and a metric: users, Lighthouse score, load time, conversion lift.
Choose three strong projects over ten weak ones. For each, the reader wants to know what it does, what you built versus what a tutorial built, and proof it is real: traffic, paying users, a client name, or a public repo with commits over time.
Bullets that prove craft, not tasks
Weak web developer CVs describe duties: "built responsive websites using HTML, CSS and JavaScript". Strong ones describe outcomes: "rebuilt the checkout flow in Next.js, lifting mobile conversion 18% and raising the Lighthouse performance score from 61 to 97". Performance scores, Core Web Vitals, accessibility audits and conversion numbers are the currency of this role, and they are easy to measure, so use them.
If you work with designers, say how: implementing Figma handoffs pixel-accurately, building the design system, catching accessibility issues before launch. Cross-functional fluency is a real differentiator at the junior and mid level.
Junior web developer? Structure it differently
With under two years of experience, lead with projects instead of employment. A deployed app with real users, a client site you built freelance, or meaningful open-source contributions all outrank a retail job. Keep the retail job as a one-liner (it shows reliability), put your best project first with a link, and make your skills section mirror the ads you are applying to. One page, no filler.

Example web developer summary
Front-end developer with 4 years of experience shipping React and Next.js applications for e-commerce and SaaS clients. Rebuilt Meridian Retail's storefront to a 97 Lighthouse score and 18% higher mobile conversion. Strong on performance, accessibility and turning Figma files into production interfaces without drift.
Example achievement bullets
- Rebuilt the storefront in Next.js and TypeScript, raising the Lighthouse performance score from 58 to 97 and lifting mobile conversion 18%
- Built a 40-component design system in React and Storybook, cutting new-page build time from days to hours across 3 teams
- Reduced bundle size 62% through code-splitting and image optimization, cutting largest contentful paint from 4.1s to 1.3s
- Delivered 12 client sites end to end as a freelancer, from Figma handoff to deployment, with every project shipped on schedule
- Brought the marketing site to WCAG 2.1 AA, fixing 40+ audit issues across contrast, focus order and screen-reader labels
Adapt the numbers and systems to your own work — never copy a claim that isn't true of you. The structure is the part worth stealing.
