Privacy Policy

How we handle your information, what we collect, and the choices you have.

Last updated: June 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how ApplyLift, the operator of ApplyLift (the Service), collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and resume builder. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Resume content. The text, dates, contact details, and other information you enter to build a CV.
  • Communications. Messages you send us by email or through the contact form.
  • Account information (future). If and when we offer accounts, the name and email address you register with.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage and device data. Aggregated, non-identifying information about how the Service is used, such as page views, browser type, and approximate region. We do not currently run third-party analytics; this describes data we may collect as the Service grows.
  • Cookies and browser storage. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Information from third parties

  • Payment information (future). If you buy a paid plan, our payment provider processes the payment and shares limited transaction details with us. We never receive your full card number.

How your resume data is stored

Today the Service is local-first: the resumes you build are saved in your own browser using local storage, and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers. You remain in control and can delete them at any time by clearing your browser data.

In the future, optional accounts will let you sync resumes to the cloud. That syncing will happen only if you choose to create an account and sign in.

How we use information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • To respond to your requests and provide support.
  • To develop new features and understand how the Service is used.
  • To keep the Service secure and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • To process payments for paid plans.
  • To comply with legal obligations.
  • With your consent, to send product updates you can opt out of.

AI features and your content

When AI features launch, content you choose to submit — such as your resume and a job description — will be sent to our AI provider to generate the output you request, for example a tailored CV or a cover letter. We will send only what is needed to perform that task, and we will work with providers that do not use your content to train their models. You can always use the builder without using any AI feature.

Legal bases for processing

For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, we process personal information on these legal bases: performance of a contract (providing the Service you request), our legitimate interests (operating and improving the Service), your consent (where we ask for it), and compliance with legal obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers. Trusted vendors who help us operate the Service — for example hosting, cloud database, email delivery, AI processing, and payment processing — under agreements that require them to protect your information.
  • Legal and safety. Where required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
  • With your consent. When you direct us to share information.

International data transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than the one in which you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

Data retention

Local resume data remains in your browser until you delete it. Information we hold — such as support emails or, in the future, account and billing records — is kept only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to object to processing or withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@applylift.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. California residents have rights under the CCPA and CPRA; we do not sell personal information.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

Third-party links

The Service may link to third-party websites, including job listings from external sources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by providing additional notice.
