Marketing manager CV template

Marketing is a numbers discipline that too often submits an adjectives CV. Hiring managers skim past "creative storyteller" to find pipeline generated, CAC reduced and revenue influenced. This template leads with a confident header and keeps every bullet anchored to a metric a CMO would recognize.

Bold's color-banded header brings the visual confidence a marketing CV is allowed to show, over a single parseable column that keeps ATS portals happy. Swap the accent to match your personal brand; every color stays export-safe.

Speak revenue, not activity

The weakest marketing bullets describe output: campaigns launched, posts published, emails sent. The strongest describe what the business got: "Rebuilt the lifecycle email programme; reactivation revenue rose 34% year over year." Every channel you touch has a number a finance team respects: pipeline, MQLs at a stated conversion rate, CAC, ROAS, organic traffic that became signups.

Attribution honesty makes you credible. "Contributed to" a $2M pipeline reads evasive; "generated $600k of the team's $2M pipeline through paid search I owned end to end" reads like someone who understands their own funnel. Precision is more impressive than size.

Show your channel depth, not channel bingo

Modern marketing ads list a dozen channels; you win by proving depth in the two or three the role actually needs. Structure your skills list by what you can own outright (strategy, budget, reporting) versus what you can run competently. A performance-marketing role wants to see spend managed and ROAS; a content role wants organic growth and examples they can read.

Name platforms the way ads name them: Google Ads, Meta Ads, HubSpot, Salesforce, GA4, SEO. These are exact-match recruiter searches, and vague equivalents ("paid social platforms") do not surface you.

The scale line every role needs

Calibrate the reader with one scale marker per role: monthly budget managed, database size, traffic volume, team managed. "Managed a $80k/month paid budget across search and social" reframes every percentage that follows. Percentages without scale are the oldest trick in the CV pile, and experienced reviewers discount them automatically.

If you manage people or agencies, say so with numbers: direct reports, agency relationships, freelancer budgets. Marketing management is increasingly an orchestration job, and orchestration evidence is what separates manager CVs from executive-track ones.

Portfolio and proof

Marketing has receipts: campaigns that can be linked, content that ranks, brands that are recognizable. A single portfolio link in the header (a page with three case studies, each one problem, approach, result) does more than any adjective. If your best work is confidential, one anonymized case study with real numbers still beats none.

Example marketing manager summary

Marketing manager with 6 years of experience in B2B SaaS demand generation, managing budgets to $80k per month. At Coretide, rebuilt paid acquisition to cut CAC 38% while doubling qualified pipeline, and grew organic signups 3x in 18 months with a content engine of two writers. Fluent across paid search, lifecycle and SEO, with reporting a CFO signs off on.

Example achievement bullets

  • Cut blended CAC 38% while doubling qualified pipeline by rebalancing $80k/month spend from broad paid social into search and intent-based retargeting
  • Grew organic signups 3x in 18 months by building a content engine (2 writers, 1 freelance editor) around bottom-of-funnel comparison pages
  • Rebuilt the lifecycle email programme in HubSpot; reactivation revenue rose 34% year over year and unsubscribes fell by a quarter
  • Launched the customer webinar series that sourced $600k in pipeline in its first year at a 12% MQL-to-opportunity rate
  • Managed two agencies and a 3-person in-house team; brought creative testing in-house and cut cost per creative iteration 60%

Adapt the numbers and systems to your own work — never copy a claim that isn't true of you. The structure is the part worth stealing.

Questions, answered

How do I quantify marketing work without clean attribution?
Use the numbers you do own: channel-level metrics (ROAS, CTR-to-signup, organic rankings), before/after comparisons over the period you ran the channel, and honest framing ("paid search I owned generated $600k of the team's $2M pipeline"). Reviewers trust precise partial claims over vague total ones.
Should a marketing CV be creative in design?
Confident, yes; gimmicky, no. A strong accent color and clean typography signal brand sense. Infographic CVs, skill meters and photo collages hurt you twice: ATS portals parse them badly, and hiring managers read them as style over substance. Save the creativity for your portfolio link.
Generalist or specialist: how should I position?
Match the company stage. Startups hire T-shaped generalists who can run three channels; larger companies hire channel owners. Read the ad, lead with the depth it asks for, and keep the rest as supporting range. The same history can honestly support either framing.
Do marketing certifications matter?
Google Ads and HubSpot certifications help early-career candidates pass keyword screens and show initiative. Past three years of experience, results replace them entirely; keep one line at most, and never lead with certificates over campaign outcomes.
What's the biggest mistake on marketing manager CVs?
Adjective inflation: "data-driven creative storyteller with a passion for brands". Every reviewer has read it a thousand times and it carries zero information. Replace the adjectives with one campaign, one number, and one channel you own, and the same CV starts winning interviews.
